REFLECTION ABOUT "PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT"

This course provided an insight into the different important areas that are useful tools as a future teacher. Useful information related to strategy of learning, material preparation and professional development. This last unit, “Professional Development” by Jack C. Richards and Willy A. Renandya, was the most significant to me, in terms of its content which is entirely connected with the teacher´s professional progress within a classroom, which in few words can be defined as a long-life road walked by teachers, so the aim should be to reflect our own teaching process with the purpose of improving every day the way we teach.
The text provides useful information of what it means to be a professional English teacher, not only we are going to teach but we are also going to learn the during our entire lives so the idea is to learn, in depth, as much as possible. Because our teaching development is a continuous process we cannot get our degree and forget all about it, we need to be always studying, for generations are constantly changing, so we have to change along with them.
The English Didactics course has been an important tool for my training as a future teacher because it has provided me an overview of the most recent knowledge in teaching practice, but most importantly now a have a base for what it means to be a professional.
